JEEP LIFE AND THE GREAT OUTDOORS
"Not all those who wander are lost"
I have a friend, and the guy is funny, talented and actually lives life with some integrity,...which happens to be my favorite few things about a person. Oh, one more thing...he's a guy that loves getting out there to explore nature as much as I do, which is why we have become such great friends I suppose. Anyway, when it comes to exploration and more specifically, being an Overlander, you're pretty much assured to end up driving one of two types of vehicles. A Jeep or a Toyota, and he picked a pretty sweet Toyota 4Runner.
Wondering if Toyota owners are as fanatical as Jeep owners, I asked my friend to write a small piece for the site that expresses the reasons why he loves his Toyota and here's what he had to say...
While setting out to build my first overland vehicle I searched high and low until I fell in love with the 2016 Toyota 4runner. Yes, I know you are thinking but what about a JEEP! It was on the top of my list of vehicles but at the end of the day I just felt more at home inside the 4runner. Both vehicles are extremely capable and are great decisions for your adventure vehicle but I also like to stand out from the crowd a bit. My first experience with Toyota’s was my brother’s Tundra which drove like a dream and my mother’s Land Cruiser which is now 15 years old and has over 200,000 miles on it and is still going strong. I knew I could trust the 4runner as my ultimate overland vehicle. To date the car is a year old with 30,000 miles and is heavily used off road and is also my daily driver. Follow along as I take you on my journey of turning this stock 4runner into an overland beast.
Well...there you have it. Sure I may be a Jeep fan, but how can anyone tell another person that they should or shouldn't drive anyway? I actually appreciate his love for his 4Runner, and honestly...that thing is capable! I guess it's looking like more Toyota to come folks!
