JEEP LIFE AND THE GREAT OUTDOORS
"Not all those who wander are lost"
From the time I bought my first Jeep in the early 90's until my current 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, there has always been something missing. Year after Year as this American off road icon rolls out, and I seem to have the hit same concern. Hoping nobody steals my stuff! We all love stripping down the top and doors right? Well then, I am sure at some point we have all came to the same crossroad...backpack or risk it??
So, what is it? The BackBone is an all aluminum tread plate with a nice thick powder coating and a very secure locking system that encloses the area behind the rear seat. Plus a whole lot more!
The BackBone is a complete racking system as well. Step by step, you can add on a cargo rack, for the days you pack heavy. There's a custom rear windshield, that will enclose the area behind the rear seat to keep the dirt and weather out. But, what really sold me...the adventure rack! I love kayak fishing, so a way to get my kayak to the water without a big, bulky, rack that can't be removed is REALLY interesting to me. The adventure rack can be used for just about everything too. Surfboards, kayaks, even some lumber from your local Home Depot...easy-peasy with the adventure rack add on!
When installing the Jeep BackBone two things came to mind. One, the way it locks down is brilliant. Here's how it works. Now, this is the dumb down explination for folks just like me so bare with me. Anyway, a sliding bar is attached to the diamond plate deck lid on each side. When locking it down you simply slide one side under the Jeep lip, and tighten the other side. As you tighten one side the other side locks in. Simply loosen that same bolt, and the opposite unlocks and slides out for removal. Safe and easy!
Lastly, I want to tell you guys how great the company is to worth with. If you read some of my other posts you'll know how important customer service is to me! In fact, it's the difference of making a purchase or not.
