JEEP LIFE AND THE GREAT OUTDOORS
"Not all those who wander are lost"
No doubt there are awesome TAC lights out there, and some of them are REALLY expensive. The average person doesn't need a $400 dollar TAC light. We aren't nessisarily looking for a light to blind an enemy long enough to put two rounds in their chest and one in their head, right?? Most of us just don't want to be surprised by a nasty spider jumping on us when we go to the bathroom in the middle of the night at the campground.
The Surefire 6PX Defender is perfect for most of us. It's aluminum body is light, strong and comfortable. It's military spec anadization makes it tough as nails. The Strike bezel can come in handy for any emergency. It's bright, it's tough and it won't break the bank at just over $100 bucks.
When I was thinking about how to test it I wanted to be hard on it, but realistic. I put it through four tests.
1. The trail test. I took it out on a day hike. Dropped it a few times, rolled it around the trail a bit, picked it up and turned it on. Shined as bright as ever!
Test 1... Pass!
2. The sand test. Sand does nasty stuff to working components. Burying my Surefire Defender in it and squishing it around a bit didn't phase it's functionality at all.
Test 2... Pass!
3. The glass breaking test. Of course smashing some attacker In the head with the security bezel would cause the "desired effect", but what about needing to break a car window incase of an emergency? Yup... No problem! Went next door when it was dark out, and shatter my neighbors car windshield easy peasy!! Just kidding! What's wrong with you?? Of course I didn't do that. I did however, hand over a few bucks to the dude working at the pick-a-parts place to let me go in and take out a window. Only tried this one once... I'm on a budget here folks.
Test 3... Pass!
4. I know what you're wanting! Yes... The "2&1" test. I had my kid stand at the end of the hall way in the middle of the night and see what his visibility and reaction was when I surprised him with a blast in the face with the light. Yup... Scared and blind. Perfect reaction for that 2 and 1 combo we hope we never need.
Test 4... Pass!
Surefire defender passed with flying colors to anything the average person may put it through.
Perfect for a walk around the neighborhood at night, camping outdoors, and yes, even blinding an enemy long enough to put two in the chest and one in the head. Hypothetically speaking of course.
