JEEP LIFE AND THE GREAT OUTDOORS
"Not all those who wander are lost"
It's time to finally get some bumpers! Where do I start? How am I going to decide which to buy? A crossroad most of us Jeep owners face usually sooner than later.
Assuming our starting point is with quality bumpers that are both functional and built well, I broke bumper shopping down to a few categories. The look, the cost, and my experience with the company's products.
Let's get right to it:
Although there's a lot of controversy about what American Made actually means out there, I try to go that way if possible. It is tough to find a price point anywhere close to the "non" American Made bumpers though, so I can understand when folks have to keep things affordable for themselves. At least try and stick with a company that has employees, and some kind of operation based here in America if you can.
EXPERIENCE WITH THE MANUFACTURER
Recently I had the opportunity to go with something new. A brand I've always loved, but just couldn't justify spending the cash on for what I do out there. TeraFlex! Wow, I was surprised how well everything was made. Great design, great manufacturing, and now that I have them installed...worth every cent of what they cost!
Now, if you're charging a premium...you better have good customer service right? The TeraFlex crew have that covered tenfold. They have created a climate where it seems everyone working there has fun and loves their job. That rolls over to the customer and gives them a unique experience that you just can't have without rear human interaction. Great company!
I've reviewed big companies with mass production over seas and small companies where the owner is also the guy sweating it out in the shop making sure every weld is artwork. Although you can't really compare apples and oranges, I can say there are great bumpers out there for all of us. Just make sure whatever you get you love. Make sure it represents you and your Jeep. Ultimately if you like them...then that's all you need.
