JEEP LIFE AND THE GREAT OUTDOORS
"Not all those who wander are lost"
My routine is pretty simple. I wake up, scroll through some social media, check some news and get to writing. This morning I came across a meme from Kate Iwata, a FB friend. It was a simple map with one single line scrolled across it.
Live Life by a Compass not a Clock. Maybe this is that profound, or maybe I'm just sensitive to learning this lesson today, but WOW! Think about it...Live Life by a Compass not a Clock, Live Life by a Compass not a Clock
I might take that literal, because I love to outdoors, I love getting away from the craziness man has created and of course, I love to explore. To me there's just something so magical about being one small little branch in a giant world full of lush unknown, unseen, forrest. That may not be you though.
Look at the saying as a metaphor. A representation of a bigger meaning. To Live Life By a Compass not a Clock is freedom. It means to live your life as you want to, not as you have to. Now that doesn't mean blow off responsibility by quitting your job, hitting the open sea and hunting treasure or anything. It means to seize the moment, live for today, spend time enjoying life instead getting through to the next weekend or holiday. Have fulfilling relationships, be defined by our heart and character, love God and each other and always strive to be the best you can be.
Next time your at lunch with a friend try spending the entire time NOT checking social media or texting someone else! Or...the next time your at your kids little league game, be present! Work and that other stuff will be there to take care of later, but that game won't be. There's a saying I heard a long time ago...I've never met a man on his death bed that used his last breath to say "I wish I would of spent more time at the office."
So, here's the question...what is freedom to you? What would life look like living it by a compass and not a clock?
