JEEP LIFE AND THE GREAT OUTDOORS
"Not all those who wander are lost"
I have always wanted to have a spray on protective coating applied to my Jeep. Jeepers have been spraying the inside of their Jeeps forever…so, what the heck? might as well do it all, right? Well, I finally decided to pull the trigger and go for it. Now, it’s a decent amount of cash, and definitely very permanent, so getting it right is a must!
I looked into every option for this kind of treatment I could find. I looked not only into that actual science of the material and application process, but I looked at every review I could get my eyes on as well. Not just exteriors either, I looked for anything that has been sprayed. Over and over again I found a commonality at the end of just about every positive review I read…LINE-X! People have trusted LINE-X for decades, and they seem to of come through over and over again for folks. That kind of word of mouth endorsement was all I needed for my decision.
I finally landed in Santa Ana, California. A cool little LINE-X shop in the industrial area of the 55 freeway.
LINE-X of South Coast

A nice guy named Don owns the place. If you look him up, tell him you heard about him from CoolGuyStuff.tv. If you want some information about it all, or that location specifically…hit me up and I’ll be glad to share anything I can.
One of the great things about Don was his transparency. Don allowed me to be a part of the process from start to finish. Sure, anything “against the rules” or may have some liability involved I had to sit out, but I definitely got the experience. I loved it, and trust me when I tell you…it is a lot of work guys!
Here’s a little about the actual LINE-X product and application…
LINE-X treatment is applied at high pressure, and high temperatures. That makes it bond instantly and permanently to what it is applied to.
Made from a two-part polyurethane elastomer system, LINE-X uses equal parts of an "A" component, or hardener, and a "B" component, or resin. Using special equipment, the two liquids are combined right outside the tip of the spray gun. When the two parts are combined properly, the result is a polyurethane elastomer with tough, durable, protective properties that dries in just 3 to 5 seconds, preventing runs or pooling that can occur with a cold, low pressure spray-on product.
That process, and those materials seem to make LINE-X different from the rest. Although LINE-X is franchised, corporate makes sure the process stays the same from place to place. That said…I trusted the LINE-X brand, but spent some time finding a LINE-X guy I felt good about. The good news is I probably would of went to any of the guys I checked out. They all seemed like straight up guys to me.
It’s now been about a month or so since it’s been done, let me tell you…I LOVE IT!! It looks insanely awesome. It’s super durable (no scratches!!), easy to clean, and I get positive comments about just about everywhere I go. As much as I love the outside…I might just like the inside more! No carpet, no roll bar pads. It is so easy to keep clean inside! For those of you that really likes to get dirty…you can literally hose it out!
