JEEP LIFE AND THE GREAT OUTDOORS
"Not all those who wander are lost"
So a friend of mine has started down a new pathway for herself. A pathway of promoting kindness to our communities, to our world. I get so inspired when I see people taking bold steps toward infecting the people around them to be better, to live more selflessly. It is trulyamazing!
It reminded me of one of the best things about belonging to the Jeep community. Now, if you've read this story before...read it again with eyes of kindness. Then, step out and be kind. Taking the focus off of ourselves, and placing it on someone else, is truly the key to finding our own happiness.
I was at my very first Jeep club event. It was fun, people we hanging out, laughing, sharing stories, showing off their Jeeps, just having a great time. About 45 minutes in, I noticed a guy walking around. It looked like it was his first time there too, so saying hi was pretty easy. I quickly noticed however, this was a man with a heavy heart. A man that had clearly been beaten down by life's circumstances recently. We all can relate, right? We've all been there at some point. I mean...think about the last time you needed someone...were they there?
Anyway, I wasn't exactly comfortable myself there, but I took the guy and introduced him to my friend that invited me. It was so great to see my friend take this guy, introduce him to new people. Welcome him into a new group of friends. Friends that went on to share the love of the outdoors and their passion for the Jeep life with this guy, a man they barely knew. His entire demeanor changed in the course of 5 minutes. It was a beautiful thing to watch.
The next day, I was messing around on Facebook and noticed that guy that carried the weight of the world on his shoulders the night before out sharing some laughs and good times on the trails with his new friends from the Jeep event.
So I thought, what an awesome community of people! How great is it that this Jeep club opened up their arms to a new guy and the next thing you know...healing has starting in a guy that just needed a little kindness shown. I love the Jeep life.
Today however, with my friend's new commitment to sharing kindness to the world, I'm reminded that kindness heals. A simple act of kindness can change the course of someone's heart is taking them, it literally can be life changing. Not to mention what being kind does to our own hearts. We only have one shot at this life folks...we need to make the most of every moment. When the dust settles, and the end of the day is hear, the relationships we have with each other, the way we treat the people around us, the kindness we show...it's all we got.
