JEEP LIFE AND THE GREAT OUTDOORS
"Not all those who wander are lost"
This may sound odd, but the first thing I did when I bought my JKU was get rid of the factory top and picked up a TrekTop NX from Bestop. Ever since that day...I was all in with Bestop. I mean it's not exactly rocket science here...a top is one outhouse things where we all know what they look like, what they do and that Bestop is the industry leader for this kind of thing. So of course when we picked up this American Classic 1995 Jeep YJ it was a no brainer where I'm going to go for my replacement top.
The Bestop Supertop gives this very cool retro look off that tells the world that you really are that cool as you drive down the highway. It looks amazing, the quality is the best in the industry, it's easy to install and of course like everything else made by Bestop...will last for many years to come.

For the first time ever I feel a difference in shocks. Feel the difference in performance and I feel the changes claimed made when I adjust the settings. Falcon Shocks is easily the best shock I've ran, and man I'm glad I made the switch.

The Jeep industry is full of product and a lot of them are pretty darn nice, but none do it quite like TeraFlex now do they? TeraFlex has been my favorite brand for years now and their balance of great product, great people and the "lifestyle" culture they have create around the brand keep them at the top. (I also love the fact that they have managed to stay family owned in a culture of small business being bought up left and right by some of the bigger corporations out there).
Well the Epic Front Bumper by TeraFlex is a great example of just how good they are over there. Every angle offers a sexy look to it and the build quality is second to none.
TeraFlex keeps their bumper family a short list. Enter the line up with the Explorer (great bumper too) and wrap-up the line with the perfectly designed and built Epic. Here are some details...
-1.75" mandrel bent hoop with laser cut gussets
-Hoop adds extra brush guard protection
-Recessed mounting allows more grill space for taller winches and increased radiator air flow
-Winch mount integrated into bumper design
-Fits all major winch models w/ center bolt pattern including larger Warn Powerplant
-Separate Epic Bumper (4653100) available for offset drum winches like Warn Powerplant
-Steel w/ textured black powder coat finish
-Factory fog lights retain factory style and technology
-JKs 2012+ need vacuum pump relocation bracket (4403100)
-100% bolt-on install
-Lifetime defect warranty, 90 day powder coat warrant
-Cost - $1144.99
The crew that make up TeraFlex love what they do, they love the lifestyle that comes with it and they love their customers. It's pretty simple actually, If you're a Jeeper...TeraFlex has something for you.

Recently I made a switch from a long time favorite to something brand new from Yokohama Tires. Sure I was a little hesitant, but I've heard nothing but good things about the Geolandar M/T G003 and come on…just look at them!
So…on they went and off I went. Gold Mountain is the testing ground for these babies. The day couldn't be more perfect. 80 degrees, sunny with a light breeze, and the best part…not a single person but us on the trail.
The Yoko Geolandar is a new design that doesn't just look aggressive, but has the engineering behind it to compete with the best out there in the class. Long life, super durable, grips better than any I've tried before and on pavement they are pretty quiet.
Once on the trail I immediately noticed the traction. I was gripping everything and the ride was nice a comfortable. The first obstacle was a small rock shelf and after watching the first guy up I was a definitely curious on how my Jeep would do with out lockers. As you can guess the Geolandar climbed like a champ. The footprint was definitely the difference.
After another little climb we came across a rock garden and this round was more about the comfort the the technical ability. Rock after rock was smooth. Plenty of grip and again the footprint created by the tire was amazing. I've had washboard fire roads that felt worse running other tires.
By the end of the trail I was all in with Yokohama Tires and the Geolandar M/T might just be the perfect everyday tire option for any Jeep! If 6 months from now these tires are treating me like they did the day I ran Gold Mountain...I believe Yokohama just found another customer for life.

For years the explorer has been left duct tapping and zip tying their way through equipping their Jeep for the next great adventure. Sure, we could of picked up a few extra OT shifts, stop paying the kids an allowance and made our spouse's get a second job to buy one that was already built, but it just not the same. Besides, that would of taken away from the fun of allowing your creativity to come to life through some almost quality, definitely mediocre craftsmanship right there in your very own driveway!
It's no secret that I am a big fan of TeraFlex, in fact...I spend plenty of time daydreaming of being able to slap on a set of their axles, but I digress. My point is TeraFlex's face man, Dennis Wood has built an Overlander that competes with the best of them AND...most of the upgrading can be done right there at home!
If you're building, thinking of building, upgrading your existing, daydreaming of upgrading your existing, or just love you some beautiful Jeep eye candy companioned by the smooth, silky voice of none other than Dennis Wood himself...you have to watch this step by step overlander build list video.
Here's a news flash...it is way cheaper to replace your seats than buy a new Jeep annny day!
I recently picked up a 1995 Jeep Wrangler YJ for 4800 bucks. The goal is to show that anyone, with a little effort can build out a perfect capable, super fun Jeep for, less than 12k. (If you've looked at new Jeeps lately, you understand why). I'm talking the whole 9 years too. Bumpers, wheels, tires, suspension, new SuperTop, new door uppers, rotors and breaks, radiator, new exhaust and OF COURSE...NEW BESTOP TRAIL MAX 2 SEATS!
I have researched and researched on;y to research again and when it comes to not only tops...Bestop is the brand to turn to when looking to replace your seats! The Trail Max 2 replacement seats are about the best in the industry. You will find less expensive options out there, but I know for me, I wanted something that is durable, comfortable, will last a lifetime and look absolutely fantastic! I have never been disappointed with a Bestop product before, and off of first impressions I will be loving these seats for a long time to come.
Weather Proof, cloth inserted, and the perfect incline the Trail Max 2 seat replacements comfortably ready to tackle the trail. The front seats are about $370 and the rear seat will cost you just under $320 bucks. That said, you throw in a Newark Custom Autoparts carpet kit and for under 2k you have an interior that will take you back to the show room floor!

Project from Craigslist to Cleghorn is going great! At this point we have installed the new Yokohama Geolander tires on our steely Mickey Thompson wheels, cleaned up the interior with a carpet kit from Newark Auto Products, mirrors, hood hardware and fender flares all from Crown Automotive and. Ow it's BUMPER DAY!
We we decided to go with RT Offroad tube bumpers for this one. They look like they are meant for our YJ, AND they don't leave us broke! We have a lot more to buy here.
The install is a breeze. Just remove the factory bumpers and bolt your new RT Offroad bumpers back into the factory holes. Easy/Peasy right??

Dan Fresh from OC Motorsports has his past. No, no, no, you weirdos...I'm not talking an arrest record, I mean as an Off-Road super hero. Well, good ol' Dan might seem a little more Peter Parker than he does Spider-Man these days, but..the guy still crazy skills and watching Dan in action is a whole lot of fun!
We are reving up our YJ make over full force over here, but before we really tear into it...check out what a good bath and a little lipstick can do! All parts can be found at:
ANNNDD...of course we can't tear out the old suspension with out trying it out first. Right?? Check this out...
A sun shade is one of those products that once they were out there for us customers, all I thought...yes, of course!! It makes perfect sense! For years now a good bungee secured sun shade is my go to summer top. They add the perfect amount of relief from the blazing summer sun. The UV protection is probably not a bad idea either.
That's where Alien SunShade comes in. A husband/wife team that began their company for their love of Jeeps and Jeepers! From the Midwest the couple hold their values high, and for someone who appreciates and looks for companies that value their customer more than their profit margin, that is exactly where I want my cash to go. (Not to mention the trust of knowing if something goes wrong...they'll answer the call).
Alien SunShade carries a big variety of shades for just about any Jeep, (which is why every Jeep I own is geared out with Alien). With plenty of colors and options to choose from, including printed shades, you can easily find exactly what you're looking for. All of their shades come treated to resist fading and offer the highest level possible in UV protection.
