JEEP LIFE AND THE GREAT OUTDOORS
"Not all those who wander are lost"
Our society is rapidly declining. It seems harder than ever to find things like kindness, compassion, love, and even honor in this world. This can only lead us down a pathway of destruction. Recently, a young man with a mild form of aspergers felt so desperate, so alone, that his only way to find freedom was to take his own life. Why? Bullying!
Bullying is a problem that has plagued our lives for as far back as it goes. Here's what we need to realize...
Bullies aren't born, they are created. Created out of insecurities. Things like abusive homes, no positive role models, parents that don't reinforce a child's self esteem with love as they are growing up. Bullies are afraid to be themselves, they are afraid that they are not good enough to be loved by friends and family. They search to fill the void that they are missing through trying to make others feel the fear and sadness they feel deep within themselves, mostly so they are not alone.
Bullying is a problem that is out of hand more than ever these days, and we need to get a handle on it, but how?
Punishing a bully for bad behavior is a consequence for their action, it isn't a fix to stop bullying. The fix starts at home.
Families need to realize the importance of spending time with each other. Parents need to understand the importance of raising their children through love, and life experiences. I have never heard of a businessman on his death wishing he just could of been able to work more.
If we want to stop bullying, then we need to care about our kids more than we care about ourselves. That means a whole lot of things. Things like living within our means so we can choose spending time together rather than chasing another buck. Things like taking the time to educate your children in the importance of character, not only with your mouth...but with your actions. Things like reinforcing kindness from birth, rather than assuming our kids get it.
The only way we can ever stop bullying is to break the domestication process that we have created for ourselves and embrace a new way of living in this world. A way that puts others before ourselves. A way that glorifies righteous behavior over the evil that we honor in our media, and our entertainment.
Bullying cannot claim another victim. It's to important that we protect our children and bring them up to be better than we are. They will soon rule the world and they will do it through the lessons taught to them by their parents and the world they grew up in.
Make a commitment to yourself to take a stand against bullying today. Help the weak feel strong through love, acceptance and support. Behave in a way that models the love that our children need more than ever to help them feel secure.
It's very difficult to un-teach bullying, but simple start teaching love.
