JEEP LIFE AND THE GREAT OUTDOORS
"Not all those who wander are lost"
I remember Back in the day it was all about Body Armor. They made bumpers that were invincible! As time passed, and the newer body style of the Wrangler came out, the aftermarket Jeep industry blew up and options were many. Body Armor became "an" option instead of "the" option it once was.
Well... It's time... time to get some bumpers for my JK. I did a lot of homework on what to buy and when the dust settled... Body Armor was the company I chose. I wanted to see how the company has held up through the years, as well as loved the look and cost of their products.
I couldn't be happier with my choice! I already use the safari rack by Body Armor and LOVE it, so the installing their bumpers was an easy choice.
Installation was easy! It's definitely a do it yourself project. Designed to bolt right into existing holes, the install should take you 30 to 45 minutes each max! The tire mount is heavy and strong as well.
Hitting the Trails:
Looking great is only a part of it of course. They have to be function and add to the durability, and protection to your Jeep.
I tested the bumpers on a series of trails. First, the easy stuff. Dirt roads, beginner trail driving, clearly gave no trouble. Nothing to hit right?? Except for the post I backed into, :-) which turned out well for the job at hand. With the exception of a small scuff mark, the only damage was to the post. Perfect!
Now, this is my daily driver, so I didn't try anything to crazy with my JK, but I did hit some medium level trails that had me a little concerned on a few spots. Mostly with clearance. The Angled corners and design of the bumper proved to be enough to keep me from scraping though. I did notice I found myself lifting up off the seat a little without realizing it when I dropped in on a couple spots. Funny how we do that!
All and all for me... The Body Armor the front and rear bumper have passed with flying colors.
Now, I realize I didn't put these bumpers through the fire or anything, but most of us happy Jeep owners don't. It's about functionality of our lifestyle, looking great, and COST! I give a thumbs up on all areas! They look great, they work of course, and for just over 1,000 bucks you can have the front and the back bumpers with the tire carrier! If you're looking to add bumpers to your Jeep, which we all do at some point, check out Body Armor, I think you'll love the choice.
