JEEP LIFE AND THE GREAT OUTDOORS
"Not all those who wander are lost"
JOHNSON VALLEY, CA: Hammerking Productions is pleased to announce that 2017 dates have been secured for the Nitto King of The Hammers presented by Optima Battery. The 11th annual KOH week will commence with Hammertown opening to the public on Friday February 3rd, 2017 and will continue through Saturday, February 11th, 2017. The actual King of The Hammers race will take place on Friday, February 10th, 2017. All races from 2016 are expected to return for 2017 including: The Smittybilt Every Man Challenge, Polaris KOH UTV Race, Klim King of The Motos, and Vision X Shootout.
"KOH 2016 was our biggest and most succesful King of The Hammers to date. We look forward to continuing that momentum into 2017." Said Hammerking founder, Dave Cole, who went on to say, "It is our goal to release dates as early as possible to give teams and fans plenty of time to prepare for their annual trip to the lake bed."
With 2017 President's Day falling later in the month of February, Hammerking moved the race back to it's traditional place in the first full week of February. The last few years, opening day crept into late January due to President's Day taking place earlier in February. The holiday is one of the largest recreational wheeling weekends in Southern California, and KOH Week must be completed prior to holiday weekend.
About King of The Hammers: King of the Hammers is considered the toughest one-day off road race in the world. It is the largest off-road race event in North America in terms of both competitors and spectators. It combines desert racing and rock crawling, and has expanded from one race to a series of 5 races held throughout the week and takes place each February in Johnson Valley, CA.
I'm not exactly sure when it happened, but it happened. I know it happened because I can't stop thinking about it when it's gone. I long to spend time enjoying it's company, I miss it only minutes after I leave it. I can't help it, it's overcome me. Every minute of every hour I'd rather be there than anywhere else...and when I look towards the mountain tops or out across the sea's horizon I start to daydream about everything I'm missing.
I love to explore. I'm meant for it and all it brings. I love the unknown, I love the potential of one day seeing a view that great men and women throughout history have only seen. I love the hunt. I love the serenity of looking as deep into space as the eye can see on a chilly winter night and wonder what exactly is out there. Nature is both predictable and unpredictable. It's both loving and fearful. I am constantly amazed at it's simplicity and complexity and that's why I'm continuously consumed by the next great adventure.
At some level we can all identify with that way of thinking, can't we? If not...you just haven't spent enough time under a beautiful desert sunset, or a snowy mountain top's blanket of clean white snow as it falls. The world was created and then we were created to enjoy it. That's the way it's suppose to be. It can calm a restless mind as well as heal a broken heart. Nature has a way of revealing God's very spirit to us and if we just take the time to look and listen, the world's answers can be found in the beauty of your next expedition.
Spyderco Knives has made it's way to the forefront of the industry by quality builds, with something for everyone. I own multiple myself and have not been unhappy with any of them. The average price point makes it possible for their customers to buy quality knives without emptying your wallet.
The Dog Tag series is something a bit different and really cool! Owning two Dog Tags myself all I can say is...MAN THESE THINGS ARE COOL! Great for a keychain, necklace, or pocket, the Dog Tag is perfect for the day in and day out uses I put them through. The unique style make the Dog Tag a perfect gift and although I'm showing you the two I own, there is a carbon fiber model to choose from too.

I love the look of KC Hilites pods. Don't get me wrong, their newer design styles look really tough and sexy too, there's just something about that classic, windshield mounted look that catches my eye every time. Thankfully that classic look comes packed brand new LED technology so there's no compromising here.
Well, I finally got the chance to get out and film a few moments of KC Hilites lighting up the trail at night. Take a look.
Every day that passes, it seems we learn more and more about the crazy food industry. The conditions these poor animals are kept in for the sake of big business, the way that they brutalize them in their lives and deaths, and the crazy things they pump into their systems, all for the sake of making them larger with a faster growth rate so they can bring them to industry as soon as possible to make as much cash as they can is down right disgusting. It's just not right! It's not right for the animals, and it's not right for the people that unknowingly digest them, thinking that everything is fine and that's just our meats! Our fruits and vegetables have the same craziness going on by irresponsible growing practices!
Instead of spending the time grossing everybody out by spotlighting the problems, let's ask ourselves this...What can the average person do about it? Anything? Are these giant corporations really in so deep with our governments that the people no longer have a choice? Well, good news! There is PLENTY we can do!
First, try buying from local farms and growers. Things like local ranches or farmers markets are great for that. If you can't, then try sticking organic for your fruits, veggies, and dairy (although, we are discovering even that isn't as it seems sometimes, so pay attention). When it comes to meats...free range, grass fed is the way to go! Remember, as simple and natural as we can keep things...the better we are for it.
Here's an idea! Something new to me actually. Today...I started a garden. Not just any garden, but for $12 bucks a year, I am "leasing" a 10ft by 15ft plot of land from the city to grow my garden on. Turns out, these community gardens have been around for decades. :-)
I'm starting easy with just a few things while I learn. I have high hopes though. What a great way to make some changes to the way we do things!
The possibilities are endless on this! Your get to know your community. You can do it as a project with friends and family. You can even use your harvest to help with things like teaching the next generation the responsible way to do things, and feeding the hungry. Not to mention the benefit you will get by being outside, and growing your own veggies! There's no real downside here folks...it's great!
I love the brands that commit to creating products built around a lifestyle. Bartact is definitely one of the best at it too. The owner, Mitch Walk is a good dude that is not only committed to bringing the best Jeep products to your Jeep, but also using his success to help the people around him in the process. It doesn't get better than that.
If you're at all like me, you like to support the good ones however you can. Take a look at all of Bartact's products at
There are a few things almost all Jeepers have in common. We love the outdoors, we love our guns, we love buying cool add ons to our Jeeps and we all have thought at some point that we needed a lockbox for our stuff...and guns!
Bestop does offer the same box for the passenger side as well. With such an affordable price per box I went ahead and picked up both. It's a great way for your passengers to be able to lock up some of their stuff too on those topless days at the beach or wherever adventure takes you. (California residents can lock up their firearm in one and ammunition in the other for legal transport).
