JEEP LIFE AND THE GREAT OUTDOORS
"Not all those who wander are lost"
Today I woke up with a heavy heart. The things we do as a human race to each other for our own benefit sometimes is a bit baffling and sad. To hurt someone that doesn't deserve it for the sake of liberating yourself is not liberation at all. The actions we do effect us, even when we may not think so. Large or small those actions will start to chip away at our belief system and define our imperfect hearts.
We live in a time where as bad as the world is out there...most Americans have never seen war. They have never had to sacrifice the things that have to be sacrificed in war. They have never fought, they have never lost, they have never won a war. Most have never and will never feel the effects of its victory or defeat first hand, and that's a good thing.
The downside is this...It all plays a role in what we think is acceptable for the way we behave, more specifically...the things we do to each other...the way we treat each other. If you have been to war, you gain a perspective on human behavior that will guide you through your own actions. You'll have an understanding that most only think they have.
The first...it can get very vicious very fast. One step leads to another and before you realize it you're down a path you never thought you would go down in you're own behavior.
The second...nobody escapes the casualties of war. Win or lose doesn't exist, only the degree of loss does. At some level, there's always a price to pay. Lastly...never go to war if you're not willing to lose or take everything. There's only one way to survive war. It's harsh, it's ugly, and it absolutely changes a person forever.
We live in a time more than ever where we as people do all sorts of horrible things for all sorts of horrible reasons. We also live in a time where more than ever in recent history do we need to unite as Americans and take and stand for not only what is right, but for our freedom that has come at such a cost.
My heart is heavy this morning not because the world out there is so relentlessly cruel, rather the man I sometimes have to become to live in it.
1 Corinthians 13:13 - And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
